On March 6, 2001, Wilbur-Ellis Company completed the purchase of the Knox McDaniel
Company’s vitamin and mineral premix products business located in Ogden, Utah.

“The Knox McDaniel operations fit very well into our existing feed distribution businesses” said
Wilbur-Ellis President and Chief Executive Officer Herbert B. Tully in announcing the acquisition.
“The Knox McDaniel operations service Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and Nevada customers with
products similar to those supplied by our Mowe’s Scientific facility in Upland, California and our
Inman Company operations in Clackamas, Oregon. ”

Knox McDaniel Company began operations in 1967 under the leadership of founder Knox
McDaniel. Jeff McDaniel, President of Knox McDaniel Company and son of the founder, said
“It was important for our Company to align itself with a significant player in the industry, such as
Wilbur-Ellis Company, but to still be able to retain our local autonomy and to maintain the personal
relationship that we have with the customers in our region.”

Knox McDaniel Company will continue to be managed by Jeff McDaniel. Knox McDaniel
managers who will continue key roles include Lon Shears, Operations Manager, Rex Ferrin,
Purchasing and Customer Service Manager, and Marty Short, Quality Assurance and Range Country
Manager. The Ogden location will be a business unit of the Northwest Feed Division and will
report to Al Zimmer who is headquartered in Portland, Oregon. The Northwest Feed Division
operates as part of the Animal Feed Division under Vice President Ron Salter.

Founded in 1921 and with total sales exceeding $1.1 billion, Wilbur-Ellis Company specializes in the
marketing, distribution and formulation of crop protection products, fertilizers and animal feed
stuffs. Through its Connell Bros. Company and Animal Feed divisions, Wilbur-Ellis exports
industrial chemicals, minerals and fibers and certain animal feed stuffs throughout the Pacific Rim
for numerous major U.S. companies.
